BSBA Courses in Botanical Illustration

Anemones © Jeni NealeWould you like to learn the art of botanical illustration?

Information and booking forms are now available for the 2011/12 BSBA 1Yr Courses in Botanical Illustration held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses in the heart of Birmingham, UK.

Both courses are suitable for beginners and improvers and include group and individual tuition, demonstrations, step by step instructions, practical work and appraisal.

The 1Yr Certificate Course in Botanical Illustration takes students methodically through each step of botanical illustration working from live plant material using a variety of media. Assessment is a useful part of the learning process and students are encouraged to produce work at home for appraisal, leading to a 'Certificate of Achievement' from the BSBA.
The 1yr Aspects of Botanical Illustration Course is a more leisurley class with monthly seasonal themes, without homework assignments and aims to provide instruction on techniques in a variety of media to enable students to develop their skills and style in their own particular area of interest.

Our tutors, all members of the BSBA, are qualified and experienced botanical artists and teachers, each able to to contribute an individual skill and style in their own field of expertise. Each course consists of 11 Saturday sessions starting in September 2011 and finishing in July 2012.
