Painting and drawing has been a major part of my life. I grew up in Leeds and attended Loughborough College of Art where I studied printed textile design. I worked as an Art Teacher in Leicester and Birmingham. Plants, flowers and anything that grows have always been important to me – as a child my favourite books were the Flower Fairy series – remember them?

The pressure of work and a growing family left me with little time to paint so it was not until I retired that I had the time and opportunity to pursue my passion for painting and drawing. After attending several courses on Botanical Illustration I joined the Society. I find it so enjoyable and valuable to share ideas, interests and skills with other like-minded artists.

As well as working on botanical themes I enjoy life-drawing and landscape painting.
