A fantastic workshop on 15th May with Laura Silburn on a subject she specialises in – Ferns. Laura gave us all a document she has produced on ferns. We worked our way through this with her, identifying parts of a fern together with making sketches of the fern structures, fronds and pinnae as well as the various forms of growth. This was a very comprehensive session which we found both stimulating and challenging. Laura had brought many examples of fern both potted and dried fronds as well as examples of her award winning work. Many thanks to Laura for this workshop which we booked her for two years ago but the Covid pandemic intervened.
Some members of the society made a return visit to Morton Hall, near Redditch on the morning of Thursday 12th May. A little earlier in the year to our last visit so they were able to see the meadow in bloom and tulips in the garden. After a guided tour they enjoyed lunch in the orangery.
