April 12th 2021

Our exhibition is open from 12th April to 27th May daily from 11am to 4pm

Update March 2021 and first workshop

Water droplets with Ann Swan – 10 members had a Zoom workshop with Ann Swan on 18th March. This was a coloured pencil workshop with Ann demonstrating as we followed, it was amazing how much was achieved in the two hour period.

Another Zoom workshop by Sarah Morrish will be held on 24th April the topic is ”Buds and Twigs”

Our exhibition ‘Flora Mundi’ which has been in place at Weston Park since the end of October should open on the 12th April until the 27th May 2021. We are now hopeful that the public will be able to see our work.

We have planned that our meetings will resume on 27th June with our AGM and continue monthly following, this obviously it depends on Covid lockdown restrictions being lifted according to the government plan.

If the Open Studios event takes place at Stirchley in September we will be taking part, there are no details at present about the dates.

December 2020 Update

Unfortunately our work could not go on display in December. The Weston Park Estate is under Tier 3 COVID-19 restrictions and they have had to close the estate and their Christmas events will not go ahead as planned. There will be a review on 16th December but there is no guarantee that the situation will change.

The curator has said that our exhibition will stay in place during January and February 2021 hoping that they will be able to open the gallery during this time.

As the future is still uncertain we have been unable to set dates for any future society meetings. Rest assured we will be back – keep painting and stay safe. Best wishes to all for a peaceful Christmas and a better 2021.

Exhibition Update – November 2020

On 30th October six members of the society hung our pictures at The Granary Art Gallery at Weston Park. There are 79 pictures by 18 artists and two display cases showing the materials we use, examples of sketchbooks, our reference books and dried plant material. We were very pleased with it all and the exhibition opened at 1.30pm and was to run for the whole of November.

The photograph shows the entrance. The painting in the center is a Magnolia the image a copy of one growing up a wall at Weston and is by Jeni Neale. The two paintings at the side are by Carol Hardie.

Imagine our dismay when on 31st October it was announced there would be a second National lockdown from 5th November – 2nd December. The GOOD NEWS is that our work is to remain on display through December.

Sadly as a society we have been unable to meet since March due to the impact of Covid-19 and cannot make any plans for the future at the moment
