Billy Showell Workshop June 2024

July 12, 2024

On the 16th of June, we had the pleasure of hosting a watercolour workshop by the well-known Botanical Artist Billy Showell.

The workshop covered watercolour painting techniques for soft fruits including luscious tomatoes. Yes, Tomatoes are a fruit! The key areas covered included reflections, colour mixing and matching and choosing the correct paper for the wet-into-wet style of painting Billy is renowned for.

Billy demonstrated each stage of the technique, and the group then had the opportunity to work on their pieces from references already provided. We all benefited from the numerous hints, tips, and advice Billy gave, especially on how she organises her palette and choice of colours.

Thank you Billy for a most informative and enjoyable workshop. We look forward to hosting another workshop in the future.
