February Meeting – Carol Gordon – Working with Tone and Spring Colour

February 18, 2026

Carol’s watercolour workshop focuses on tone.

She stressed the importance of considering tone and shadow to give the subject depth and realism.

Carol demonstrated building up shadow areas first, then applied the colour

She was very generous with her knowledge of watercolour, making us feel relaxed about approaching watercolour this way. We came away with the knowledge of a different technique for applying shadow to our botanical paintings

Many thanks for sharing your technique with us, Carol. Lynn Hughes
