I started painting at a very early age encouraged by my father who paints as a hobby.

After leaving school I completed a two year art and design course at Solihull College where I studied various aspects of art including photography.

Since leaving college I have worked as a graphic designer and then as an Apple Macintosh operator for a number of years, becoming self-employed in 2006 to pursue a career as a freelance artist and illustrator.

I have since illustrated books such as ‘The Secret Life of Trees¹, and more recently ‘The Morville Hours¹ and have taken on various commissions, from artists impressions of a garden to wildlife and pet portraits, and designs for greetings cards.

I am particularly interested in botanical illustration as I love to paint in very fine detail working from life, and became a member of the Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists in September 2001.

I work in various mediums, preferring watercolour, but also in pen and ink, graphite and watercolour pencils. Although a lot of my paintings are botanical, mainly of flowers, leaves, berries and fungi, I do also paint wildlife subjects such as birds and mammals.

I regularly exhibit my work and take on commissions.
