This is Marc’s second visit to the Society. Marc makes all his watercolor paints by hand using a 60-year-old triple-roll ‘mulling’ machine about the size of a domestic toaster. He acquired the machine from a friend of his father who worked at Winsor and Newton. Marc talked in great detail about the binding agents, pigments, and particle size, demonstrating each step of the process. His passion for creating watercolours is evident; he even dreams about new colour combinations. However, when naming his newest creations he enlists the help of artist friends to test them out and suggest suitable names such as ‘Moss Stone Green’ and Dusky Mulberry. After the talk members were able to test out and play with all the colours – many purchases were made! Thank you Marc for another fascinating day. We always learn something new!
